Roasted Veg: Carrots, turnips, golden beets, and yams cubed and tossed with ghee and parsley in a 400° oven for 40 minutes.
Apples: They’re $1.99 a pound at the Portland Nursery every fall, the best deal in town. I’m partial to Swiss Gourmet, Ambrosia, Rubinette, and Splendour.
Fountain Pen: I’m still pretty committed to my digital planner, but have been dipping a nib into the well of journaling. It can be eye-wateringly expensive, but I’ve found the Jinhao line to be a nice entry point. Mine is inked with iroshizuku take-sumi.
Emily Dickinson: My memory has become crumbly since I turned 40 (probably even before then), so I’m trying to memorize poems to strengthen that muscle. I’ve started with #937.
